| Who We Are
We are a group of Ontario based volunteer rescuers who have been
saving lives and promoting responsible pet ownership for over
20 years.
We are a humane, all breed rescue that provides quality foster
care to homeless and owner surrendered pets until we are able
to match them with suitable pre-screened adopters, and place
them into loving and permanent new homes.
4 Love of Canines All Breed Rescue is a no-kill, not for profit organization that is run by
volunteers and funded by donations.
Our Mission is to cater to the best interest of canine companions while maintaining the
highest quality of service to both pet owners and adopters.
What We Do
4 Love of Canines associates are responsible for maintaining any number of dogs that
we may currently have in our programs, promote pet responsibility and awareness, offer
consultations on a variety of pet related issues with pet owners and adopters, liaise with
other rescues and shelters, and maintain the web site.
We accept homeless and owner surrendered pets from anywhere within Southern
Ontario, and from private rescues and dog owners throughout Canada and the USA.
While our primary concern is for canine companions we do aim to help any pet in need
of a new home.
With our many years of dog related experience and our dedication to promoting the
happiness and security of companion animals, our goal is to educate pet owners on
matters of breed specifics, health, obedience and general canine care and to help them
understand that making the decision to own a dog requires a life time commitment to
the pet. At times, the support and training offered to pet owners is enough for them to
continue working with their pets thereby alleviating the need for placement.
Once a dog is accepted into our program it is placed into
a loving home environment where it will receive any
medical attention needed, basic training, and TLC. As
some of the dogs are coming from an institutionalized
environment they gain skills and abilities that enable them
to become respected and capable companions.
Evaluations provided by foster parents throughout a dog's stay track the progress in
regards to physical health, temperament, vices and specific needs. Along with our
in-depth screening of potential adopters, we are able to ensure every placement is a
good match for both the pet and the adopter.
After placement our interest continues and every adoption is followed up to ensure the
pet is positively integrated into its new home. As well, we contact the previous owners to give them closure and peace of mind knowing that their decision to place their pet with
4 Love of Canines has helped to ensure the future happiness and security of their pet.
How Did Our Rescue Get Started?
It all started with one woman's dream of making a difference. Her affinity and love for
animals made her a natural rescuer from a very early age. Her best friends while
growing up included a crow name "Charlie", a garter snake named "Sassy", a one
footed sparrow affectionately called "Peg Leg Pete" and a little dog that followed
her home one day named "Tammy".
At the age of 11 she began trapping feral kittens. Placing them in a box on her wagon, she would take them from door to
door looking for people willing to adopt them. It seemed throughout
her life that where ever she went animals would appear
needing her help and she was always glad to reunite a dog
with its owner or play nurse maid to a motherless furry friend.
As an adult she began pulling dogs and cats from pounds that were tagged to be
euthanized or sent to research labs and fostering them in her home until she could find
suitable adopters. During one of her pound excursions she ran into other rescuers who
appeared to have the same care and compassion for animals and in working together they found camaraderie and a matched desire to turn their hobby into a mission.

Today 4 Love of Canines and its associates continue to dedicate
themselves to rescuing and aiding animals in distress, working with
pet owners to help re-home their pets with suitable loving adopters,
and ensure that no pet adopted through the rescue will ever end up
in a pound.. |
Where Are We Located?

Why Use Our Service?
For The Pet Owner:
4 Love of Canines offers pet owners a caring and compassionate alternative for
re-homing their pets that allows the pet to continue being cared for in a loving home
environment, while alleviating the stress on your family to find the perfect new home.
With the experience of our associates and our networking abilities, you are guaranteed
to have your pet seen by a wider range of potential adopters, and by utilizing our
in-depth screening and matching process, your pet will be placed with only the most
suitable, permanent new home. As well, unlike a "free to good home" ad, all adopters
must sign an adoption contract that guarantees the pet will never be placed in a pound,
or sold for research.
As we follow up every adoption to give added support and assistance when needed,
you have the peace of mind knowing that your pet is being positively integrated into its
new home, and that 4 Love Of Canines will continue to serve the best interests of your
pet for the duration of its life.
By choosing to place your pet with us, you have not only guaranteed the happiness and security of your own pet, but you have helped make funds available that will save the life
of another companion animal that might otherwise have been euthanized.
For The Adopter:
4 Love of Canines is always looking for loving, permanent homes for a variety of adoptable pets. The pets
may be purebred or of mixed breeding, small, medium or large and come from a vatiery of sorces, including caring veterinary technicians, concerned shelter staff and private homes.
Every pet adopted through our rescue has been screened and assessed in regards to physical health, temperament, vices and specific needs and you can be assured that
any pet offered to you for adoption has been carefully matched to meet your specific
needs and requirements. As well, we ensure that all medical records and past history
we have for a dog is passed along with the pet to their new family.
After you take your new canine companion home we continue to make ourselves
available to you to help with any training issues you might encounter and to deal with
any questions or concerns you might have in a friendly and timely manner.

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It is the best deal man had EVER made.
