If you have found yourself on this page, I would assume you are a caring pet owner who unfortunately is looking to find a new home placement for your pet. We understand that circumstances sometimes warrant giving up a pet such as illness, divorce, relocation, or allergies. We hope to offer you some information about the dangers of re-homing your pet, and to offer a compassionate and caring alternative that will help alleviate some of the stress put on you and your family, and to allow you the peace of mind knowing that your pet will continue to have a happy and secure future for the rest of its natural life.
You could take your pet to a local SPCA or Animal Control facility but it is a known fact that 53% of all animals entering an institutionalized environment never make it out alive. Some are sold to research facilities, others are euthanized and even more end up in homes that are just not suitable to the pet's needs and are returned to become repeat adoptees. As well, pets kept in these environments often develop emotional and behavioural problems such as separation anxiety as their individual needs are not met by the minimal contact allowed, which can take months if not a lifetime for the pet to overcome.
You could also post an ad in your local papers but the unscrupulous people who target these ads could have an even worse fate in store for your beloved pet. Small dogs are adopted to be used as pit trainers, collectors will pose as a loving family only to resell your pet with no concern for who may be buying it regardless of the pets specific needs, and often they are collected to be sold to research labs. Even when someone with good intentions adopts your pet, they may find they are unable or unwilling to care for the pet financially when a problem occurs and will then dump the pet knowing they can just get a new "free to good home" pet.
4 Love Of Canines offers you a compassionate and understanding alternative that allows your pet to remain in a loving home environment where they will be treated as one of the family for as long as it takes to find that perfect new home. Our experienced associates will access your pet and then offer them further training, medical treatment or behaviour modification if needed, to ensure it will be a respected and capable companion in its new home.
While in our care, our foster parents continue to give your pet the same love and attention that you would be giving to your pet and with our in-depth screening and matching process you are assured your pet will be placed with only the most suitable families. As well, our associates ensure that any chosen adopter fully understands the lifetime commitment they are making to the pet prior to their adopting.
All potential adopters are required to complete an adoption application, and must be approved prior to being invited to meet with a specific pet. Once accepted, the adopter must then sign a contract that guarantees the pet will be treated humanely and with respect for the rest of its life, and that if at any time they are unable to continue caring for the pet it will be returned to 4 Love Of Canines.
After adoption our interest continues and we follow up to ensure the placement was a good match for both the pet and the adopter and to offer any further suggestions or help in regards to the pet's care that will ensure a positive integration into their new family.
As well, we contact you, the previous owner, with information about your pet's new family that allows you to have closure and peace of mind knowing that your choice to use our service has guaranteed the future happiness and security of your pet and through our Happy Tails pages you can continue to follow your pet's progress by reading the updates and view pictures of the pet in their new home.
The following is just a sampling of the feedback we receive from previous pet owners after their pets have been placed. To read more, or to see the updates on these pets, please visit our Happy Tails pages.

Jen and family had tried to find the right home for Tara their 6 year old Cocker Spaniel but had found the people answering their ads were less than desirable. After Tara was placed through our rescue Jen had this to say: |
Thank you so much for letting us know Tara’s progress. I can’t tell you have happy I am to hear of her new mom and dad. I am simply amazed at how quickly you were able to place her. I think I’ve always known that she would find a new family quickly if she was somewhere she would be seen by many. Thank you again for all your help.

Hanna was brought to us for placement after she had been taken in by a couple who were unable to care for her but who wanted to ensure that she was placed into a suitable, permanent home. |
I have the hugest smile on my face ever from reading that email and I am so happy she is with a loving family. I just got back some pictures and I can’t stop looking at them. Wow! I really loved that dog way more than I could have ever imagined. Keep sending the updates…I love them!
Cheers Hanna |

Intake Policies and Procedures:
1. Once we receive your application you will be contacted by one of our associates who will access your pet's eligibility for placement and will advise you of any surrender fees that might be applicable to your case.
2. 4 Love Of Canines will not accept any pet that is vicious or has a known bite history or a history of being overly aggressive with people or other pets and any owner whose dog is found to be vicious while in foster care will be notified to retain ownership of their pet.
3. All pets must be legally surrendered upon entering our foster program and owners are required to sign a Surrender Contract prior to their dog being physically accepted into our program.
4. All surrendered pets become the property of 4 Love Of Canines and as such must be required to wear an identification tag or other identification that shows them to be a 4 Love Of Canines dog.
5. 4 Love Of Canines requires that all owners provide a complete medical history on their pet and permission given to allow 4 Love Of Canines to speak with the pet's veterinarian if required.
6. Acceptance of owner surrendered pets will be made as space and urgency dictates.
Pet Owners who place their dogs through our rescue are
not only guaranteeing their own pet's future but are also
helping to save the lives of other unfortunate canines as
proceeds from adoptions are used to aid dogs from
local shelters and pounds that would otherwise have been
euthanized or sold to research.
Jeff aka "Bandit", was one of those unfortunate homeless
canines. He is now part of a family and the beloved pet of
Dorie and Mark.
